This timely O'Reilly book by Preston Gralla provides a practical introduction to many excellent Windows XP tips and tools but don't let it fool you, it is also a valuable handbook for Windows 2000 readers as well.

Many of the tips and tools described in the book can be found in various places out on the web subject to the reader's knowing exactly what it is he or she is looking for. However, having them all in one convenient reference document along with extensive descriptions is a tremendous time saver.

I found hack #54 used to speed up network browsing by tweaking the registry to be of particular use in both the Windows XP and 2000 arenas and well worth the cost of the book alone to our group.

In addition to finding tips such as this, you'll also learn about removing uninstallable Windows XP components, surfing anonymously, speeding up file downloads, tweaking the Registry, fixing network problems, and much more.
